To celebrate a decade in business, Alexander Wang — the purveyor of all things model-off-duty and downtown chic since 2005 — called upon his fans to choose their favorite looks that the brand has released throughout the years. The "Wang 10" capsule was narrowed down from 25 best-selling pieces, and while the voting — which took place on social media — came to a close in July, the winning looks were just revealed on the label's site on Monday — and are currently available for pre-order.
The spring 2009 collection turned out to be a true fan favorite, with four of the 10 re-released pieces coming from the brightly colored, Miami-inspired show; although this time around, each item is done up in all black. The powerful, sexy fall 2009 show inspired two of the looks — a fur-sleeved moto jacket and the semi-sheer bra cup dress Anna Ewers wears above — with the rest coming from a sprinkling of popular collections, including the football-themed spring 2010 runway and the high-volume fall 2011 show.
This anniversary collection comes at a true crossroads for Wang, who will show his final range for Balenciaga in Paris during Fashion Week, before turning his focus to growing his eponymous brand. But first, the designer will present the Alexander Wang spring 2016 collection at his preferred venue, Pier 94, during New York Fashion Week — although at a later time slot than usual. Considering the 10th anniversary milestone, we wouldn't be surprised if he has some huge tricks up his sleeve for the occasion.
