Over the last ten years, Víctor Enrich has been continually reimagining landmark cityscapes through architectural and digital manipulation. The catalan artist’s ongoing series of contortions and distortions literally turn urban sites on their head, twisting, bending and braiding buildings into unrecognizable versions of themselves. Enrich’s mixed media landscapes comprise actual architectural photography and advanced computer graphic techniques, forming a collection of mind-bending, experimental environments modeled from images of munich, barcelona the middle east and beyond.
"In cities, most spaces are achieved only by replication, thus maximizing the sublime contradiction of imitation as a source of creation," Enrich says. "Knowing this ruthless law, enrich sets himself the duty to witness the gravity of the urban soul while it changes from an understood shape into an intellectual experiment, always through a permeable decay towards the assumption of the volume, expelling newborn shapes as if they were already elderly."
Beginning February 2016, Víctor Enrich presents a solo show at Quinta Del Sordo Gallery in Madrid, Spain.
